As a caveat my child is on the young side (2.5) and this disc comes with a book that has activities that she is too young to do yet. That said, she asks me to play these CDs EVERY day in the car. The voices are mostly authentic to the show, but I was little disappointed by the lack of music from the show.

There are four stories, and each has a scenario (e.g., the park) around which vocabulary words and sentences are introduced. The disc is mostly in English, with the Spanish words and phrases worked in. It's good for children who do not speak Spanish to learn some basics, but if you are looking for an immersion-Spanish disc, look elsewhere.

The stories often have different characters saying the same sentence, changing the verb forms/possessives as appropriate, which is useful and teaches a little basic sentence structure in addition to vocabulary words. Each story ends with a couple of songs in Spanish.

My kid is nuts about these discs (I bought the other set as well) as I mentioned, and she does repeat the words while the disc is played. It's been a worthwhile purchase for me to entertain her in the car.

This package contains four stories on 2 CDs and 2 books: Breakfast, At Night, At School, and My Family. Each book contains pictures of familiar items (eyes, mother, table) labeled in Spanish and English. The books also include a few simple sentences using these items.

The CDs follow the books closely, but also include a few more complicated Spanish sentences. At first, I was a bit confused about these sentences, but I think the point of them is to just get a feel for the sound of the language. Before long, I was able to figure out what they mean in English. Except for the sentences, the CDs allow time and encourage kids (and parents) to repeat the Spanish words. Each CD also includes four wonderful little Spanish songs.

My child is too young (2 years old) to follow along with the book while the CD is playing, so we use the book at home and listen to the CD while we drive around town. They reinforce each other, so it seems to work fine this way.

I recommend this book for anyone who wants to teach her child (and herself) a bit of basic Spanish. Dora's voice is somewhat annoying, but, as with most annoying kid products, I got used to it.

This workbook is great practice with another basic Spanish curriculum. I would not use it as the only resource because it does not cover conjugating verbs, masculine vs feminine, etc.. but it is great at increasing your basic Spanish vocabulary.

I agree with the other reviewer - this is a great little book as a supplement to another curriculum. Beyond what she states, it also has no phonetic spelling, so if you're not confident in pronunciation, I would be cautious. Learning new words incorrectly is much harder to correct than you would think. But my students and my own children all enjoy this workbook. The activities are engaging and not overwhelming with too many words at once like many workbooks on the market right now. It's a little light on any language explanation, but for the price, this is a nice purchase.
This book contains reproducible mini-books, bingo cards, flash cards, some word search puzzles and fill-in activities. In my opinion, the fill-ins are a bit too challenging. I even had trouble with them. The only thing in this book really "worth it" that I couldn't make as well myself, are the mini-books. The mini-books each contain several different sight words, so they seem to me to be more effective for review of words the student has already learned than in the initial learning of them.

This book has excellent resources to teach sight words. The Bingo Games are a good hands on activity for the children to learn. The story books are another good source for learning to help children grasp memorization of sight words.

This workbook was wonderful, with games (like word BINGO), fill in the blanks, flashcards (you had to cut them out) and many, many different types of excercises that made the learning of sight words fun and engaging. My money was well spent.

I've used this book in a small private school and homeschooling, both for Kindergarten. There's 10 lessons and we spent two weeks per lesson. At the end of 20 weeks, your child should know all the beginning sight words they'll need in reading. I taught this in conjunction with phonics instruction, because this book only teaches 100 SIGHT words.
